Jubilate Chamber Choir from Cheltenham,
will be performing a concert of Sacred Music in
Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral on Sunday 21
August 2005 at 4pm. Jubilate is based at the University
of Gloucestershire and was formed in 2001. They have
performed in many of the countries great Cathedrals
including: St. Paul's London, St, Giles Edinbrough,
Dunblane, Dundee, Brecon, Downside Abbey and many venues
in Cheltenham and Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and
cathedrals in Holland and Belgium.
The Choir is proud to have as its
President, Professor Ian Tracey and their Conductor, Ian
Higginson has strong links with Liverpool.
The programme will include J.S. Bach’s
Jesus bleibet meine freude, (Jesu Joy of Man's
Desiring), the Bruckner motets - Christus factus est and
Locus iste, Byrd’s Ave verum corpus, Franck’s Panis
angelicus.
The concert will also feature Ian
Higginson's new setting of the Mass - 'A Mass
for Reconciliation'.
This concert forms part of the choir’s
Summer Tour, when they will also give performances on
Friday 19 August at St. Peter’s Collegiate Church in
Ruthin, Denbighshire, and at St. John’s Church, Chester
on Saturday 20 August. Tickets for the Chester concert
are available from the Tourist Information Centre in
Chester.
