The Metropolitan Cathedral Cantata Choir won a grant from the BBC Performing Arts Fund Choral AmbitionProgramme 2010 to develop musical skills within our choir and the community. This message came in March 2011: Subject: Final wrap up of Choral Ambition!
Dear Choral Ambition Winners,
The BBC Performing Arts Fund Choral Ambition scheme has now come to a final close.
We would like to congratulate all of you and your members on the success of your projects. The impact of the scheme and the positive feedback we have received has been overwhelming with so many choirs reaching a wider audience, improving their performance skills and commissioning new music for the sector.
We would like to share with you just a few of the outcomes of the scheme:
· 163 choral events were organised with an attendance of around 55,800 people · 97 workshops were hosted in which 8,708 individuals participated · 39 of these workshops were open to the public · 42 collaborations took place between choirs of which 19 occurred for the very first time · 14 choirs commissioned 21 separate pieces of music · 1,273 new members joined choirs as a result of the scheme · 24 choirs went on to secure additional funding for other projects
Although we don’t intend to run the Choral Ambition scheme again this year, we do intend to run similar schemes in the future so please do keep in touch. If you haven’t done so already you can sign up to our newsletter via the website – www.bbc.co.uk/performingartsfund You can also follow us on Twitter @perfartsfund and keep in touch via Facebook – www.facebook.com/bbcperformingartsfund We may also contact you in the future to find out about how the choir is progressing and what you’ve been up to since the scheme. If you don’t want us to keep your contact details for this purpose then please let us know.
Congratulations again and we wish you the very best of luck for the future.
