James’ first encounter with music occurred at the age of 15 when he was a student at Saint Francis Xavier’s College after he made the decision to audition for the school musical, Oliver. After playing Fagin in the production, he joined the college choir and was inspired to continue to explore the world of music, taking singing lessons, learning to play the piano and studying music at A Level. He also joined the Metropolitan Cathedral Cantata Choir, of which he has been a member since 2011.
James is currently a Secondary Music PGCE student at Liverpool Hope University and has recently completed his BA and MA in Music at the same university. From August until December 2012, he studied abroad in France at l’Université Catholique de l’Ouest in the city of Angers, an experience he considers to have been very musically and linguistically rewarding. After returning from France, James auditioned for the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Choir and has been a member for three and a half years. James enjoys choral singing and has written numerous choral settings of both original and existing texts for several choirs around the city. |
